Still, with my IRIX-O2&#039;s i use 8bpp and 16bpp depending on framebuffer hardware. So, you should first off check that your framebuffer really is capable of more than 8bpp (you should be able to do a hinv on the firmware console). Next, I really believe that 15bpp is unsupported, and you need to use 16bpp.</description>

I also tried my hand in installing debian lenny on O2. However, Iam intrested in making one into a &#039;low performance desktop&#039; . Iam not able to set the resolution more than 8 bits. I tried 15 bits, but X hangs and gives a message that mode can&#039;t be changed. Iam using fbdev as the driver. 
any clue?
